Clinical Services Program
A wide range of comprehensive services are provided to children
and adults by our licensed, professional clinical staff, including
individual and group therapy, marital and family counseling. This
program also offers 24-hour emergency on-call services and on-going
mental health awareness programs to the community and its schools.

Domestic Violence Programming
An intense case manager/therapist provides direct services to
victims of family violence as well as serving as liaison with existing
community resources to assist the victim and family.

Psychological Services
Our professional psychological staff offers comprehensive services
including clinical, psycho-educational and vocational evaluations and
testing by state licensed psychologists.

Psychiatriac/Medical Services
HealthWays offers psychiatric evaluations, consultation, medication
management and monitoring through our on-staff, board-certified
psychiatrists, nurses and family physicians.

Children's Crisis Response Team
HealthWays' team of child therapists are trained to respond to
children in crisis within the child's home, school, foster care situation
or wherever a crisis might occur.

Children's In-Home Therapy
For clients who need such care, HealthWays will provide intensive
therapy in the home for children and their families.

Adult Substance Abuse Program
This is the only program in Hancock and Brooke counties which
specializes in providing therapeutic services to adults and family
members experiencing problems related to substance abuse. Services
include, but are not limited to, individual, group and family therapy.
Another component of this program is the Driving Under the Influence
program mandated by local law enforcement agencies.

Intensive Outpatient Program for Adult Substance Abusers
This program, developed in 1994, is the only one of its kind in
Hancock and Brooke Counties. The program offers a highly structured,
8-week program designed to provide a high-impact level of care to
clients experiencing substance abuse problems. This HealthWays program
consists of both therapeutic and educational groups offered 3 days a
week for 2 1/2 hours each day, while the client lives at home.

Adolescent Substance Abuse Program
HealthWays offers an array of direct and indirect clinical
services to substance abusing or drug dependent adolescents and their
families. The program also provides off-site services such as evaluation
and counseling in the area's schools.

Substance Abuse Prevention Program
HealthWays provides awareness and prevention programs through
education and consultation services in community groups and the area's
schools.

Community Support and Residential Services Program
This program, for both adults and children experiencing severe
emotional disturbances, provides comprehensive, community-based services,
such as assessment, monitoring, advocacy, supportive counseling and
coordination with other services. In addition, this program is one of
only three in the state which offers the nationally recognized Assertive
Community Treatment (ACT) Program. The ACT program is a community-based,
supportive therapeutic service delivered in the client's home. The
program is designed to maximize the community functioning level of the
persons who have a serious mental illness, while promoting an environment
that encourages personal development.

Day Treatment Program for Persons with Mental Disorders
This program is designed to provide both therapeutic and skill
acquisition programming to area residents who have are experiencing
emotional difficulties.

Crisis Residential Unit (CRU)
This program was developed in 1991 in response to a need for
24-hour specialized psychiatric care services in Hancock and Brooke
Counties. This 24-hour, short-term intensively therapeutic program
is provided in a residential, community-based setting to persons
experiencing a psychiatric crisis.

Case Management Program for People with Developmental Disabilities
HealthWays provides a wide array of services for assessment, service
planning, linkage, referral and advocacy to individuals with mental
retardation or developmental disabilities. This program is responsible
for coordinating services of the home and community-based Waiver Program,
Medley, Tefra and Family Support Programs.

Brooke County Opportunity Center - North
This program was initiated in 1979 at the request of families in
Brooke county who wanted to establish a program for adults with
developmental disabilities. This HealthWays program provides a
comprehensive array of services including: day treatment, habilitative
training, supportive counseling, pre-vocational training, vocational
evaluation, sheltered employment and job placement for people with mental
or physical disabilities.

Brooke County Opportunity Center - South
This program provides day treatment services for people with mental
and physical challenges. Additionally, the program serves people with
severe mental and physical disabilities residing in Intermediate Care
Facilities (ICFs).

Hancock County Day Training Program for people with
Developmental Disabilities
This program began in July of 1993 at the request of Hancock County
agencies and families wishing to develop a program to serve people with
severe mental or physical disabilities. The program offers a wide variety
of training and skill acquisition services.

Banner House Intensively Staffed Setting (ISS)
This program provides a 24-hour, supervised, community-based
residence and offers intense staffing and behavioral supports for
severely disabled and behaviorally challenged adults.

Orchard Street Apartments - Geriatric Program
This program opened in May of 1994 and continues as one of the
few programs in the state that concentrates on serving elderly people
with developmental disabilities. The program offers a community-based
residence with a variety of training and support services.

Elm Street Apartments
Initiated in 1975 as Harbor House and then later known as Transitional
Living, the program stands as one of the longest running community-based
residences for people with developmental disabilities in the state. The
program underwent extensive renovations in April, 1994 and currently offers
supervision and training for disabled tenants in their integrated community
apartments.

Shiloh Apartments for People with Mental and Physical Challenges
HealthWays sponsors this 21-unit apartment offering residential
programming, accessibility, supervision and rent subsidies for people
with mental and physical challenges. The Wellsburg facility also has
an apartment for respite care services for area families.
